The Arts
At Lyndhurst we aim to provide a high quality Art and Design curriculum. We strive to engage and inspire our pupils by providing opportunities that equip them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art and music. We work with creative groups, projects and individuals in our community to show how important these skills are. Across their journey at Lyndhurst, children are exposed to a range of artists, craft makers and musical experiences to broaden their knowledge and provide inspiration for their own work. In Music, we use Charanga Music, as well as having our focus Music of the Month and the opportunity to play a range of tuned and untuned instruments.
What have We Been Doing?
Reception have been developing their fine motor skills to ensure they can use a range of tools competently, safely and confidently. They have been enjoying junk modelling, and they made fantastic creations!
Year One have been planning and making their own story boxes. Their backgrounds were inspired by the work of Benjamin Butler and the story boxes incorporated simple levers and sliders to make moving characters. They also had the opportunity to make their own sock puppets. They had a range of materials to choose from and had to evaluate the functional and aesthetic properties of the materials.
Year Two have been focusing on the art work of the local artists Two Faced Twins. They went to their gallery and looked at their pieces fo work. The children then created their own art work in the style of the Two Faced Twins of local landmarks. The children then opened their own galley to display their work.
