Year 2 (KS1) End of Year Expectations

By the end of Year 2 there are certain skills that children are expected to be able to do. All Year 2 children are assessed at the end of the year against these skills and teachers make judgements as to whether or not they meet the criteria. These judgements are made based on their class work and how they perform in the end of KS1 SAT tests.

So that you can fully prepare your child for the papers that they are due to be sitting, the following links will enable you to view and download past Year 2 papers. This will also enable you to see the standard of reading, writing and mathematics that is required by the end of KS1.

A copy of the leaflet that we send to parents about SAT's is attached below and it breaks down the necessary skills that your child needs to have achieved by the end of the year. The Year 2 key word list is also attached below. These are the words that your child is expected to be able to read and spell by the end of Year 2. There are ideas of how to learn spellings on the Literacy page of our website.
