Staff Members

Welcome to the SSC. The children in the Unit participate fully in the life of the school and integrate into mainstream school as much as possible. We follow the EYFS and the National Curriculum for Key Stage 1. For further details of the curriculum please see appropriate pages for each key stage.

Autumn 2023

Welcome to the SSC.

We have been having fun getting to know each other and loved making firework pictures using natural materials.

     

Academic year 2022-3

Autumn 2022

Welcome back to the SSC. We are all enjoying getting to know new friends and our teachers.

We have been enjoying our Forest school sessions and after reading The Three Little Pigs we have explored making homes for our animals out of different, natural materials.

           

Spring 2023

Our topic was The Great Fire of London. We learnt all about what happened in 1666.

We then compared firefighting in the past to firefighting now. There was even a visit by the fire brigade to show us their engine.

            

 

2021-22

Autumn 2021 

We explored colours and colour mixing.  Look at the pictures from our fun skittles experiment.

 

We were lucky to have a fire engine in our playground! We loved looking at all of the equipment. We then wrote a sentence about the fire engine.

We were learning about our 5 senses.  We used our 5 senses in the forest area.

Spring 2022

What a busy term! We have all learnt so many new things.

We looked for signs of Spring and did some tree rubbings.

We also made our own sculptures using natural materials in the style of artist Andy Goldsworthy

We have been learning to count in 2s, 5s and 10s.

We also joined in with the bunny hop! It was really good fun.

Summer 2022

Wow! What a great summer term we have had.We have made fruit kebabs and pizzas, learnt all about pirates and smugglers, learnt to play a song on the glockenspiel and went on a trip to the beach. We took part in World Ocean and International day.

The Queen's Jubilee

We all had an amazing time learning about the Queen. We joined the whole school for a picnic and learnt some great dances.

 

Autumn 

We have had a great time going outside and looking for signs of Autumn. 

We wrote a poem together.

Pinecones and leaves

Pinecones and leaves fall onto the floor,

The wind blows onto the door.

Brown leaves,

Crunchy leaves,

Spiky pinecones,

Hard pinecones,

The animals get ready to hibernate.
