How is my Child doing?

How can I find out about how my child is doing?

  • By looking in your child’s reading contact book and by sharing their reading targets with them.
  • By working with them on their Maths and spelling/phonics homework tasks and speaking to the teacher if you feel they are struggling with any of them.
  • Annual Report – each summer you will receive your child’s school report. Along with the report written by the teacher you will receive any National test/assessment result (End of EYFS scores, Phonic screener results or SAT results)
  • By attending Parent/Carer’s evenings. There is one in October at the start of the school year, one in the Spring term and a Celebration evening in July following their school report.
  • By attending your child’s ‘Book Look’. This takes place each term. You will be invited into school so that your child can share their learning journey with you. We also welcome your contribution – how well do you think they’ve learned during the term?
  • By attending curriculum information sessions – ie Reading workshops
  • By phoning/emailing your child’s class teacher if you have a concern or question or want some advice on how to support your child at home.
  • By reading any comments from the class teacher written in the Home/School contact book. You can also use this to write any questions/comments you have about their learning/progress.
  • If you have a question or concern then please speak with your child’s teacher or the Year Group Team Leader. The school encourages you to make an appointment at any time if you have any concerns or if you would like to check their progress. We wish to work in partnership with parent/carers and feel that parents should also initiate consultations – at a time when they need support, not just at designated times in the school year.
