Lyndhurst Infant School

RSHE

What do schools have to teach in RSHE Education? According to the National Curriculum, every school needs to have a broad and balanced curriculum that:

• promotes the spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils at the school;

• prepares pupils at the school for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life;

• promotes British values.

From September 2020, Primary schools also need to teach Relationships and Health Education as compulsory subjects.

At Lyndhurst, we have chosen to use the scheme JIGSAW, as the pieces are taught in a spiral way and complement our schools nurturing approach.  Please read the leaflet below to find out more about it.

Each year in the second half of the Summer term, we will show the children the NSPCC Pantosaurus sing-a-long video to teach children about PANTS (the underwear rule) and help keep them safe.  You can find more information about this by visiting the NSPCC website directly or clicking on the link to the parents guide below.
